On Wednesday, December 31, 2014 a week long celebration of Kankaria Carnival 2014 came to an end. The festival started on Christmas Eve on December 25.
Kankaria Carnival is organised by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, which is open to public. The festival is also attended by Ahmedabad Mayor Meenakshiben Patel, Municipal Commissioner D Thara, Suresh Patel, Nirmala Vadhwani, Ex Mayor Asit Vora, Municipal Councillors and dignitaries. There are cultural programs including Garba performance by Ahmedabad Mayor Meenakshiben Patel.
Law Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja present at the carnival informed that this event has given new identity to Ahmedabad. Some 30 lakh people visited Kankaria during last 7 days of festival he updated. Developmental work of Rs 4.50 crores including park for senior citizens, land fill development site, renovation of garden at Jhansi Ki Rani statue, opening of 30 Aanganwadis, Kantodiavaas Library conversion into Zonal Library.
