Mega demolition work in coming days to start for expansion of the Runway of Ahmedabad Airport. Therefore some part of Sardarnagar Road towards the airport will be demolished in the coming days. Currently, there is a taxiway parallel to the runway which is 1895 meters, it will be made 3505 meters in the near future. However, demolition work will be carried out in the area towards Sardarnagar to make this taxiway.
There is a total of 10,000 yards open space, of which 3,000 yards space is under encroachment from houses and it will be used and consideration is being given to building new parking stands for aircraft. Many years ago, this land was acquired by AAI Airport Authority of India. On making payment to original owners, illegal constructions were erected in this open space for many years.
