Ahmedabad Crime Branch lodged complaint under BNS against principal & 2 teachers of Seventh Day Adventist School

On the Seventh Day Adventist School (Maninagar, Ahmedabad) case:

Ahmedabad Crime Branch has officially lodged a complaint under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the principal and two teachers of the school for criminal negligence in handling the fatal stabbing of Class 10 student Nayan Santani.Charges include Sections 211 (omission to inform a public servant) and 239 (omission to report an offense). Authorities also plan to add Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, which penalizes willful neglect of a child.

The principal, G. Immanuel, is reportedly missing and currently uncontactable, prompting efforts by police to locate him.Investigations revealed that instead of calling for an ambulance, the school summoned a water tanker to clean away blood from the crime scene, potentially destroying crucial evidence.Witnesses and police confirm the delay in emergency response directly contributed to the tragedy.

The Gujarat Education Department has issued a formal notice to the school, citing gross negligence and procedural lapses.Following the Crime Branch action, the Ahmedabad Traders Federation and other local business groups declared a “bandh” (strike) in key commercial zones (e.g., Kalupur, Raipur, Saraspur) to demand justice for the victim. The Class 8 student accused of the stabbing has been sent to a child protection home for 14-day counselling, as per Juvenile Justice Board orders.
