In Ahmedabad, four appellants had filed petition against Gujarat government in Gujarat High Court over 10 % EBC (Economically Backward Classes) to people below 6 lakhs of income. In the petition it was submitted that 10 % EBC quota is unconstitutional. Gujarat government should have conducted a survey before announcing 10 % EBC quota. The information provided is also incomplete so decision to be given later. Today in Gujarat HC arguments from both the parties were made. Appellant’s lawyer stated that Gujarat government decision is based on 225 applications which is not valid. Whereas defending lawyer term decision of 10 % EBC as valid and made in public interest. After completing the arguments from plaintiff and defense, final verdict will be given by the court. Till now the decision is kept reserved in the case.
