Amit Shah HM lays foundation stone for Rs 800 crores highway 6-laning on Sanand- Khoraj zone

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during visit to  Gujarat, on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Sanand–Khoraj 6-laning project, a key infrastructure initiative meant for accelerating the region’s industrial growth.

Under the project, the existing highway from Shantipura Circle in Ahmedabad to Khoraj (village in Gandhinagar) will be widened into a 6-lane road with an estimated investment of ₹800 crores.

Gujarat CM had approved the 6-laning of this section of the Ahmedabad–Viramgam–Maliya Road in April 2025. The decision came in view of increasing traffic congestion in the rapidly developing Sanand industrial zone, home to several major automobile and manufacturing units.

The project will involve widening the current stretch and removing both temporary and permanent encroachments along the route. Once completed, the new 6-lane highway is expected to ease vehicular movement, reduce travel time, and enhance transportation efficiency in the area at large.
