Rajkot, Gujarat: On May 1, 2024, marking Gujarat Foundation Day, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel inaugurated Atal Sarovar in Rajkot, a landmark urban development project that has since become a major attraction for citizens and tourists alike. Since its inauguration, the lake has welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors, reflecting its growing popularity as a modern recreational and cultural destination.
Spread across 75 acres, Atal Sarovar has been developed with a focus on sustainability, recreation, and community engagement. The project is inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “Catch the Rain” campaign and emphasizes effective rainwater harvesting through a comprehensive stormwater network. Built on the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, the lake plays a key role in conserving and managing rainwater while enhancing urban ecology.

The facility boasts a range of attractions, including a grand flag mast, a light and sound show, dedicated walking and cycling tracks, two amphitheatres, a party plot, food courts, and a Gram Haat showcasing local culture and products. These features have positioned Atal Sarovar as a vibrant hub for leisure, cultural activities, and social gatherings.

Developed as a modern entertainment and cultural center, Atal Sarovar stands as a symbol of sustainable urban planning and public infrastructure development in Gujarat. The overwhelming public response highlights its success in combining environmental responsibility with recreational and cultural enrichment, making it one of Rajkot’s most significant public spaces in recent years.
