In a major political development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that he will step down from his post and contest the upcoming elections to the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of India’s Parliament. The move marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Bihar after more than two decades of Kumar’s leadership in the state.

Kumar confirmed that his decision stems from a long-held ambition to serve in all four legislative forums—both Houses of Parliament and both Houses of the Bihar legislature. He has previously been a member of the Lok Sabha, the Bihar Legislative Assembly, and the Bihar Legislative Council. A term in the Rajya Sabha would complete that milestone in his political career
