Gujarat experienced as a severe cold wave swept through the state on Wednesday. Temperatures dropped dramatically and almost all areas excluding the three coastal places recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees.Ahmedabad recorded with 8.8 degrees. Naliya was the coldest at 7 degrees. The sudden cold wave being experienced in Gujarat with an noticable drop in temperatures is going to be there for at least another 24 hours, as per weather sources. The reason behind the cold wave, which has caused temperatures to go appreciably below normal in several parts of the state, was the northerly wind bringing the chillness due to heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir caused by western disturbances. The place with minimum temperature in the state this morning was Naliya in Kutch with 7 degree Celsius. Ahmedabad city has recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 degree Celsius which was 3 to 4 degree below normal and falls under appreciably below normal category. Some places in the state have seen a drop of up to 6 degrees in the temperature overnight. The cold wave warning was issued yesterday itself and it is going to remain there for another at least 24 hours with maximum effect in Saurashtra and Kutchh region.
