Dhoni led India ranks second to Ponting’s World Cup win record

After getting nine straight World Cup wins under their belt, the Dhoni led Team India stand only 2nd to Ricky Ponting”s Australian side that registered 24 victories in the showpiece event.

Dhoni’s winning streak started in the 2011 World Cup, which India won at home. Ricky Ponting holds record for the most consecutive World Cup match wins as captain with 24. Dhoni and Clive Lloyd, have nine wins. Lloyd  led West Indies to victory in the first two editions in 1975 and 1979, have nine apiece
