Election Declared in 5 States in India: Voting Schedule Announced

New Delhi, March 15, 2026: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially announced the schedule for Legislative Assembly elections in five regions — four states and one Union Territory. The elections will be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, marking one of the biggest political exercises of 2026 with nearly 17.4 crore eligible voters expected to participate.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar revealed the polling dates during a press conference in New Delhi, stating that the elections will take place in April 2026, with vote counting scheduled for May 4, 2026.
