Manhar Patel Spokesman of Gujarat Congress said that history of destruction of Gujarat’s farmers is being written by the helpless Agriculture Minister of the state and his sleeping department. Curses of the farmers will affect BJP. Agriculture Minister remains silent on following issue
Vice-Chancellors of Gujarat government agricultural universities, like Dalatarwadi, are drawing crores of rupees in salaries against regulations.
Allegations of crores of rupees in corruption related to repairs and procurement have been made against the Vice-Chancellors of all government agricultural universities in Gujarat.
Unqualified individuals have been appointed as Vice-Chancellors in agricultural universities.
Vice-Chancellors of agricultural universities are manipulating roster rules and engaging in recruitment scams involving agricultural officers. An investigation has been demanded, but the Agriculture Minister is silent.
Unauthorized expenditures behind the luxurious office and government residence of Dr KB Kathiriya, Vice-Chancellor of Anand Agricultural University, point towards corruption and financial irregularities. An investigation should be conducted and recovery be made.
Dr KB Kathiriya, Vice-Chancellor of Anand Agricultural University, has violated Government of India and Central Vigilance Commission norms by awarding a ₹13.29 crore security contract for “agriculture crops/farms and life/property” to a favored company, which amounts to corruption.
Today, farmers in Gujarat are suffering due to shortages of chemical fertilizers, its timely availability, inferior quality, and rising prices.
For years, due to seed bootleggers selling weak, substandard seeds, lakhs of farmers in the state have faced crop failures and laiden into economic debt, leading to suicides.
Earlier, we demanded that serious questions raised on the credibility of Gujarat’s government agricultural universities must be addressed. State agriculture department and the Vice-Chancellors of these universities are responsible for this situation. This has led to a vacuum in agricultural research and a rise in the number of unemployed agricultural graduates. No concern is being shown over these issues. The agriculture department is slipping out of its responsibility of solving challenges in farming.
In such a grave situation, Vice-Chancellors of the state’s agricultural universities are deeply involved in corruption and irregularities. Therefore, an impartial and fair investigation must be carried out into all allegations and suspected corruption and irregularities. This investigation should be conducted under the leadership of IAS Dr. Anju Sharma Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture Department of Gujarat.
