Gujarat CM approved grant of ₹489.95 crores for construction of new Panchayat Ghars in 2,055 Gram Panchayats in state

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with the objective of achieving 100% saturation under the Gram Panchayat Ghar-cum-Talati-Minister Housing Scheme, has approved a grant of ₹489.95 crores for the construction of new Panchayat Ghars in 2,055 Gram Panchayats across the state.

For the first time, such a substantial grant has been sanctioned simultaneously so that Gram Panchayats—the most important and fundamental units of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system—can have their own Panchayat Ghars. As a result, the majority of Gram Panchayats will be able to commence construction of their buildings within this year itself, enabling rural citizens to access government services quickly and conveniently at their doorstep.

It is noteworthy that the state government provides grants according to the population of villages:

Villages with a population of more than 10,000 receive ₹40 lakh,

Villages with a population between 5,000 and 10,000 receive ₹34.83 lakh,

Villages with a population of less than 5,000 receive ₹25 lakh,

for the construction of Gram Panchayat Ghars-cum-Talati-Minister residences, as per requirement.
