Gujarat cabinet expansion / reshuffle in Gandhinagar at Mahatma Mandir today
All Minister except chief minister Resign ahead of reshuffle. 16 ministers in Gujarat tendered resignation ahead of the expansion, leaving Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel as the sole remaining cabinet member for now.

The move is seen as a reset ahead of upcoming local body elections (2026) and ahead of the 2027 state assembly polls. BJP is aiming to bring in fresh faces, balance caste/regional representation, and reorganize political equations in Gujarat.
Gujarat’s legislature has 182 seats; under constitutional limits, the state can have up to 15% of that strength as ministers (i.e. up to 27 ministers).
Reports suggest the new cabinet will consist of around 25–26 ministers. A mix of old and new faces is expected. Some ministers from the prior cabinet are likely to be retained.
The new composition is expected to be diverse:
• ~7 Patidar MLAs (including the CM) • 8 from Other Backward Classes (OBC)
• 3 Scheduled Caste (SC) ministers
• 4 Scheduled Tribe (ST) ministers
• 3 women ministers Saurashtra region’s representation is expected to increase (8 MLAs from Saurashtra region in the new lineup, up from 5 earlier).

Harsh Sanghvi, Kunwarji Bavaliya, Praful Panseria, Rishikesh Patel, Parshottam Solanki, Kanubhai Desai
New / Expected faces in the ministry:
• Rivaba Jadeja (MLA, wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja) • Kantilal Amrutiya
• Arjun Modhwadia (former Congress leader who joined BJP)
• Jitu Vaghani
• Darshana Vaghela (MLA from SC seat)
The final list of 26 ministers was reportedly released, including names such as Trikam Chhang, Swarupji Thakor, Praveen Mali, PC Baranda, Darshana Vaghela, Kantilal Amrutia, Rivaba Jadeja, Arjun Modhwadia, Dr Pradyuman Vaja, Kaushik Vekariya, Jitendrabhai Vaghani, Ramanbhai Solanki, Kamleshbhai Patel, Sanjaysinh Mahida, Rameshbhai Katara, Manisha Vakil, Ishwarsinh Patel, Dr Jayrambhai Gamit, Nareshbhai Patel, Kanubhai Desai, Praful Pansheriya, Harsh Sanghvi etc.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for October 17, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. Central BJP leaders, including Amit Shah and JP Nadda, are expected to attend the ceremony.
