Nagpur: Gujarat registered a five-wicket victory over Odisha in a low-scoring match played at the Lady Amritbai Daga College Ground, Nagpur, on Tuesday.
Odisha won the toss and elected to bat first but struggled against a disciplined Gujarat bowling attack. The team was bundled out for 79 runs in 24 overs, losing all ten wickets.
Romi P. Mallick was the top scorer for Odisha, contributing 17 runs off 44 balls, including three boundaries. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to build partnerships.
Gujarat bowlers dominated the innings, with Faina Parikh delivering an impressive spell, claiming four wickets for 25 runs in seven overs. She was well supported by Heer Thakkar, who picked up two wickets for just eight runs in two overs, putting Odisha under constant pressure.
In reply, Gujarat chased down the modest target with relative comfort, scoring 82 runs for the loss of five wickets in 16.4 overs. Frenny Chaudhary anchored the chase with an unbeaten 28 runs off 25 balls, striking six fours and guiding her team home.
For Odisha, Anwesha Swain was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 14 runs in three overs, but her efforts were not enough to prevent Gujarat from securing the win.
With this result, Gujarat completed the match efficiently, showcasing strong bowling and composed batting to clinch the contest by five wickets.
