On 8th April Saturday, in Gujarat elections for 1,557 Gram Panchayats will be held. 349 Gram Panchayats have become Samras. There will be a contest between 1,484 Sarpanch in 7,771 wards. A press meet by Varesh Sinha state election commission was held about the modalities of elections on 1828 gram panchayats.
As per Samras Scheme in which the villagers choose their ward members and sarpanch with consensus and do not go for polls.
Poll booths will be open for voting on 8th April from 8 am to 5 pm. Vote counting will be done and results will be declared on 11th April.
As per Gujarat High Court directives, option of NOTA ‘None Of The Above’ option also could be energized by the voter.
