Gujarat Government Revoked All Powers Of Charity Commissioner RV Vyas

Gujarat government has officially revoked all powers of Charity Commissioner RV Vyas with immediate effect, and annulled all orders previously issued by him under Section 8 of the Gujarat Public Trusts Act, 1950. He has also been relieved of his additional responsibilities at the Joint Charity Commissioner’s offices in Ahmedabad and Rajkot, effective July 31, 2025.
Dr. Yogini Simpi, Joint Charity Commissioner of Vadodara, has been appointed to take over all administrative and related functions for the Ahmedabad zone. CK Joshi, Joint Charity Commissioner of Bhavnagar, has been assigned to cover the Rajkot region, splitting duties between Bhavnagar and Rajkot during the week.
Multiple complaints were found against Vyas’s office, including huge backlog of unresolved cases and delays in adjudication. The Gujarat Charity Bar Association formally submitted letters and a memorandum to the Law Department over his performance.
Reports allege negligence such as coming late and holding hearings only for short durations, contributing to administrative inertia.Although the exact reason isnot publicly revealed, an adverse order in a conflict over a trust’s shrine and idol installation is speculated to have accelerated the decision.
