Vadodara/Ahmedabad: In a significant development ahead of the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) elections, the Gujarat High Court has declared several individuals ineligible to contest the polls due to non-compliance with eligibility norms laid down in the association’s constitution and governance rules.
Among those affected by the court’s decision are former India wicketkeeper Kiran More and former Baroda cricketer Ajit Jikadra, along with Amul Jikar, Anant Indulkar, and Amar Petiwala.
The matter reached the High Court after petitions were filed questioning the eligibility of certain candidates under the rules governing elections in the Baroda Cricket Association. The court examined the association’s constitution and related eligibility provisions before delivering its ruling.
The decision is expected to have a direct impact on the upcoming BCA elections, which determine the leadership responsible for managing cricket administration and development in Vadodara and the surrounding region.
The Baroda Cricket Association is one of the prominent state cricket bodies affiliated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and its elections often attract attention due to the involvement of former cricketers and administrators in the governance of the sport.
Following the High Court’s order, the election process is expected to proceed with only those candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria.
