Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad: Gujarat has taken a significant step toward strengthening its global sporting ambitions, holding high-level discussions focused on developing world-class sports infrastructure and advancing its bid to host the Commonwealth Games 2030.

The meeting brought together key representatives from Commonwealth Sport, including its President Dr. Donald Rukare, CEO Katie Sadleir, Director – Games & Assurance Darren Hall, and Director – Sport Ann-Louise Morgan. The delegation also engaged with officials from the Indian Olympic Association during their visit to Gujarat.

Discussions centered on creating state-of-the-art sports facilities, enhancing athlete training ecosystems, and aligning infrastructure development with international standards required for hosting a global multi-sport event. Gujarat’s leadership reiterated its commitment to excellence in sports and infrastructure, aiming to position the state as a premier destination for international sporting events.

Officials emphasized that hosting the Commonwealth Games would not only elevate India’s global sporting profile but also create long-term opportunities for youth development, grassroots participation, and economic growth through sports tourism and infrastructure investments.

The visit of the Commonwealth delegation marks an important milestone in Gujarat’s roadmap to becoming a global sporting hub, with a strong vision of empowering the next generation of athletes while contributing to India’s larger sporting future.
