Gujarat see rise in COVID-19 cases with milder symptoms

In  Gujarat there is a noticeable rise in COVID-19 cases. Till now 59 new infections cases have been reported in the state today, taking total active cases to 397. Gujarat has become third most affected state in India following Kerala and Maharashtra. In Ahmedabad alone, over 100 active cases have been found. One 47-years-old lady of Danilimda area died due to the virus at LG Hospital, marking the city’s first COVID-related death. Also, 3 new cases have been reported in Surat, including an 84-years-old lady is currently on oxygen support. Health authorities have identified the presence of new Omicron subvariants such as LF.7, LF.7.9, XFG, and JN.1 in the state. The variants are considered more transmissible but generally result in milder symptoms.In current situation there is low mortality and morbidity, health experts advise high-risk groups—including individuals with pre-existing conditions, children, and the elderly—to remain cautious. Testing is insisted for those exhibiting prolonged flu-like symptoms.
