Trailer on YouTube:
Kundaḷu means a “circle” in Gujarati is a poignant portrayal of life in the villages of North Gujarat, where marriage continues to hold immense social significance. The film follows the journey of Mangu, an orphaned young lady from a poor family, and Vikas, a carefree young man with a speech impairment. When a marriage proposal for Mangu is brought to Vikas’s family, fate intervenes, and a tragic incident pulls them apart. As they move forward in life, bound by traditions and societal expectations, loneliness and a longing for meaning guide them toward unexpected crossroads.
Set against the picturesque landscapes of Mehsana’s villages, Kundaḷu brings alive a slice-of-life drama rooted in authenticity. With an engaging narrative, a tightly woven screenplay, impactful performances, precise direction, and soulful music, the film promises a moving emotional experience.

The movie wonderfully depicts social enigma of a lady becoming widow at young age and perplexity of speech impaired Vikas’s parents in finding suitable match for him by franking mentioning about his limitation.

“Real people and incidents from my village inspired this film. I wanted to depict rural life as it truly is—where patriarchy and the pressure of marriage still dominate. There is a Mangu and a Vikas inside all of us: a Mangu burdened by expectations, and a Vikas hiding insecurities. I hope Kundāḷu brings to life the traditions, culture, and emotional fabric of our villages.”
