As part of spreading a positive and resilient mindset in today’s youth, with the message “Valor is the supreme duty, and unity is the supreme duty”, the Vishva Umiya Foundation (Ahmedabad) and Prerna Shree Group jointly organized this historic Raksha-Diksha Mahotsav on the blessed land of Kutch.

In Bhuj, as part of the self-defense awareness campaign, 11,800 girls took a pledge for self-protection. To strengthen their faith in religion and culture, they recited the 12th chapter of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, creating a world record.

The Raksha-Diksha Mahotsav saw participation from 11,800 girls representing 125 villages of Kutch, with more than 25,000 attendees. Over 51 girls performed symbolic sword fighting and stick-fighting demonstrations to highlight self-defense.

More than 500 volunteers from the Kutch District Organization of Vishva Umiya Foundation worked tirelessly for a month to make this event a success.

R.P. Patel, President of Vishva Umiya Dham, said “It is the need of the hour for girls to learn self-defense. This event aims to instill the spirit of resistance in girls. Against antisocial elements, girls must embody Maa Durga, not merely Goddess Lakshmi. 11,000 girls also pledged to marry according to their parents’ wishes.”

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel sent a letter to the girls, stating “The Raksha-Diksha Mahotsav, organized for the daughters of all communities, is highly relevant in realizing the mantra that valor is the supreme duty and unity is the supreme duty. The true strength of society is revealed only when women from every class, caste, sect, and family get equal opportunities.”

Saint Atmanand Saraswati remarked “Girls should keep a knife in their purse, not lipstick. Doing anything for self-defense is not a crime.”
