Article by Hiral Vilas

In a very import space mission,Mangalyaan, Mission to Mars, ISRO on its Facebook page has conveyed that Mars Orbiter has travelled 525 million kms in its heliocentri arc. Now, radio signals can be received in 15 miuntes. Some intelligent Orbit maneuvering was done and Orbit insertion is planned in 75 days from now. This maneuvering is necessary to keep space craft on right path.

Mars Orbiter was launched on November, 2013 by ISRO from Sriharikota an 11-month journey to find evidence of life on the Red Planet. Mars Orbiter is expected to enter the atmosphere on September 24 this year.

Isro had initially planned four corrections during its journey to Mars. The manoeuvres are needed to keep the spacecraft on the required path. It is also essential for maintaining the required velocity.
