Ahmedabad, December 17, 2025: Students from the NSS Unit of Smt SR Mehta Arts College, which is part of the Navgujarat Group of Colleges, undertook an educational visit to Sabarmati Central Jail recently. The visit was organised as part of a social awareness programme under NSS.
Put together by Principal Dr Darsha Jani, along with NSS coordinators Dr Nayana Chudasama, Dr Tejani Munshi, and Dr Seema Badgujar, Associate Professor of Sociology, the visit familiarised students with the jail’s correctional framework, administrative functioning and rehabilitation initiatives.
Students learnt about the various vocational and skill-development programmes run for inmates and observed products made inside the prison aimed at promoting self-reliance.
The visit offered valuable practical exposure, which aided students gain a better understanding of the correctional system. They also learnt about the role of rehabilitation in social reintegration.
