In Ahmedabad, 3rd October, 2016: On Occasion of this year’s World Architecture Day, which is celebrated on the first Monday of every October to “remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat”, the Ahmedabad Centre of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)andInstitute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) jointly organized a Presentation and Lecture by renowned global architect, Padma Bhushan awardee – Hafeez Contractor based on this year’s theme of “Design a Better World. “ The architect shared his ideas of designing, governmental processes and market trends in general for the benefit of readers.
The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national body of Architects in India with more than 20,000 members. It was established in 1917 with its headquarters in Mumbai. It is associated with the International Union of Architects (UIA) Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) and South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation of Architects (SAARCH).IIA plays a major role in promoting the profession of architecture by organising and uniting the Architects of India to promote aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the profession both in Practice and in Education.
Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) Ahmedabad has over 350 members and is a regional centre of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) formed in 1972 a nationally accepted body of interior designers in India. Support from like-minded interior designers has flowed-in from every corner of the country to spur IIID initiatives forward.
Under the guidance of Shri AnandTatu, Chairman IIA – Ahmedabad Chapter which has been celebrating this day every year to discuss the role of architecture, planning and designbecoming ever more critical to ensuring a better future for all people globally, decided to invite Mr. Hafeez Contractor at this year’s forum to be able to learn important lessons from the journey of his life and to become more motivated and inspired towards the noble profession and global cause. Several Leading architects of the city along with new generation young students of architecture field were present at this presentation. The occasion also marked the presence of dignitaries and members of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)andInstitute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID)Ahmedabad Chapter which are respected and nationally accepted body of interior designers in India.
