On Monday in Ahmedabad, Gujarat high court issued notices to the charity commissioners in Ahmedabad and assistant charity commissioners of Vadodara and Panchmahals on a petition filed alleging irregularities by trustees in governing the Pavagadh Shaktipith temple. The petitioner, Kailash Thakor, requested HC directions to charity commissioners to conduct an inquiry into the affairs of the temple trust, when only 475 kilogram of silver was found to be pure after melting 638 kilogram of silver at the temple.
The petitioner contended that he has made a complaint before the authorities that the suspected irregularities on the part of trustees needed to be probed. The petitioner’s advocate said that the trustees are facing accusations of nepotism as well, but the authorities are silent on the complaint. They have not taken any decision in this regard. Justice R H Shukla issued notice and scheduled a further hearing on this matter for July 9.
