Ahmedabad: As part of a large-scale awareness initiative focused on cervical cancer prevention and HPV vaccination, the Rotary Club of Ahmedabad Skyline, in collaboration with HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, will organise a charity fashion show titled “The Walk of Courage”, featuring cancer survivors. The event will be held on 21st December from 5:00 PM onwards at Crystal Party Plot, Ahmedabad.
Organised under Rotary District 3055, the event will bring together 70 to 80 cancer survivors from across the state, who will walk the ramp in a powerful celebration of strength, resilience, and wellness. The initiative also aims to raise support for providing HPV vaccination to more than 5,000 underprivileged girls, addressing one of the most common yet preventable cancers among women.

Cervical cancer can be prevented in over 95% of cases through timely HPV vaccination. However, due to limited awareness and affordability, a large number of young girls remain unprotected. The Walk of Courage seeks to bridge this gap by combining survivor empowerment with a strong public health message.
Dr. D. G. Vijay, Director and Chief Surgical Breast Oncologist at HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, said,
“As oncologists, we witness every day how early prevention and timely intervention can save lives. Cervical cancer is largely preventable, and HPV vaccination is a proven shield of protection. This initiative carries a powerful message of prevention and hope. It not only celebrates survivors but also takes a decisive step toward protecting future generations.”
Project Chair Rotarian Rekha Kabra stated that the event is much more than a fashion show.
“‘The Walk of Courage’ is about restoring confidence among survivors and transforming public participation into tangible health outcomes. Every registration directly supports HPV vaccination for girls who might otherwise not have access to it. This initiative is part of our broader public health outreach.”
Co-Chair Rotarian Dr. Archana Shah added,
“The objective of this initiative is to raise awareness, break stigma, and promote preventive healthcare. When survivors walk the ramp, they inspire society to talk openly about cancer and take timely preventive action.”
Registrations for the initiative are now open. The registration fee for individual participation is ₹2,500, while a regular table for six guests is priced at ₹12,999, and a VIP table for six guests costs ₹19,999. The proceeds will be directed entirely towards HPV vaccination.
