The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially removed Bangladesh from the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and replaced them with Scotland just weeks before the tournament starts on 7 February 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
The decision came after prolonged negotiations between the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) failed to resolve a dispute over Bangladesh’s participation.
Bangladesh refused to travel to India for their group-stage matches, citing security concerns and requesting their fixtures be moved to Sri Lanka — a request the ICC rejected. The ICC maintained there were no credible security threats and that altering the schedule so close to the tournament’s start would not be feasible.Bangladesh was given a strict deadline to confirm participation. When the BCB did not comply with that ultimatum, the ICC decided to replace them.
