Canada chose to field after winning the toss, hoping the expected dew would make chasing easier later in the match. South Africa, however, made full use of batting first and put up an imposing total through a strong collective effort.
Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram set the tone with a confident opening stand of 70 runs. De Kock looked in good touch before being dismissed for 25 by Dilpreet Bajwa. Ryan Rickelton then partnered Markram, and the pair kept the scoreboard ticking with a 56-run stand.
Canada clawed their way back into the contest thanks to an impressive spell from Ansh Patel. The right-arm bowler removed South Africa captain Markram in the 11.3 over and followed it up with the wickets of Rickelton (33) and Dewald Brevis (6), completing a productive three-wicket haul.

The late overs belonged to South Africa’s finishers. David Miller played a brisk knock of 39 runs off 23 balls, while Tristan Stubbs added quick runs with 34 off just 19 deliveries. Their late surge lifted South Africa to a strong total of 213 for 4.
Canada’s reply began in disastrous fashion as Dilpreet Bajwa was bowled by Lungi Ngidi on the first ball of the innings. Ngidi struck twice more in his next over, putting Canada firmly on the back foot early in the chase.
Navneet Dhaliwal offered resistance with a well-made 64 off 49 balls, and Harsh Thaker contributed 33 from 29 deliveries. Despite their efforts, Canada never fully recovered from the early setbacks and were eventually limited to 156 for 8.
Ngidi led South Africa’s bowling attack with four wickets, while Marco Jansen provided solid support with two dismissals, as South Africa sealed a comfortable 57-run victory.
