Today in Surat, in Olpad at Lavasa horse race was held, where jockeies and participants from all over India including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan states participated in the contest. More than 100 horse riders took part.
Horse Race on 2 segments, 2 kms and 4 kms stretch were conducted.
Purpose of holding horse race, was to make people aware about breeds of horse and to get entertainment through racing competition.
Sindhi and Marwadi breeds of Horse are very popular. Sindhi breed of horses are long and very local to their master.
Horses brought for racing costed from Rs 1 lakh to 17 lakhs.
The event was held by RK Group.
