SURAT REVIEWS FUEL & ESSENTIAL SUPPLY; ₹500 DISCOUNT ON NEW PNG CONNECTIONS ANNOUNCED

Surat, Saturday: A review meeting was held in Surat district under the chairmanship of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) Managing Director Avantika Singh to ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel, gas, and other essential commodities.

The meeting took place at the District Seva Sadan, where officials discussed maintaining seamless distribution systems across the district.

During the meeting, MD Avantika Singh stated that there is currently adequate stock of essential commodities such as gas, petrol, diesel, and fertilizers across the state. She assured that necessary arrangements have been made to maintain sufficient supply in the future as well.

Considering the ongoing conflict situation in the Middle East, she emphasized that the district administration and municipal authorities are working in close coordination to ensure that citizens face no disruption in accessing essential commodities. She appreciated the teamwork of officials for ensuring smooth supply in Surat.

She further informed that Surat city currently has 15.20 lakh domestic PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections, and efforts are ongoing in coordination with oil and gas companies to ensure uninterrupted supply to all consumers.

₹500 Discount on New PNG Connections

To promote PNG usage, it was announced that customers applying for new domestic PNG connections by June 30 will receive a ₹500 discount. This amount will be credited to their bill after installation.

The Central Government has issued guidelines prioritizing PNG connections, and the state is implementing them rapidly. Priority is being given to residential areas as well as institutions such as schools, colleges, hospitals, old-age homes, orphanages, dairy industries, railway canteens, hotels, restaurants, religious institutions, and industrial/corporate canteens.

In Surat district:

  • 1,805 commercial PNG applications have been received
  • 39 hospitals and 16 railway canteens have been approved

Additionally, industries and community kitchens are being supplied gas cylinders as per their requirements, with special focus on industrial units, social and religious community kitchens, Samras hostels, and hospitals.

Officials also stated that:

  • HPCL, BPCL, and IOCL dealers have started supplying 5 kg and 3 kg gas cylinders
  • The PNG pipeline connection process has been simplified, reducing the installation time from 45 days to just 7 days

The meeting was attended by District Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, Municipal Commissioner M. Nagarajan, Resident Additional Collector Vijay Rabari, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dinesh Gurav, Joint Director of Information Arvind Machhar, District Supply Officer Darshan Shah, and representatives from oil and gas distribution companies along with other officials.
