Gandhinagar, November 19, 2025: Swarrnim Science College, part of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University in Adalaj near Gandhinagar, recently organised a donation drive to mark Children’s Day on November 14. Around 50 students from BSc Semesters 1, 3 and 5 participated in the drive along with faculty members. Multiple donation boxes were set up at the institute’s Idea Lab to collect clothes, books, toys, and stationery.

Ms Nilam Patel, Assistant Professor with the Department of Microbiology coordinated the event. The idea behind organising a donation drive to mark Children’s Day was to promote the values of kindness, empathy and social responsibility among students.

As part of the initiative, students, faculty and staff members were encouraged to donate clothes in good condition that they have outgrown, in addition to books, toys, stationery and other usable items for underprivileged children.
“The donation drive was aimed at creating awareness among students about the underprivileged sections of society and how such efforts can help support their education and living expenses. We also aimed to engage students in community service and inculcate the value of sharing. This helps students understand the challenges faced by local communities, become more empathetic, and make small efforts within their capacity to improve their lives,” said Dr Archana Pandey, Principal, Swarrnim Science College.
