Ahmedabad, April 11, 2024: Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, in collaboration with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), recently organised a National Webinar on ‘Financial Empowerment and Career Opportunities in the Financial and Security Market’. The seminar was organised by the Department of Liberal Arts, School of Management, Commerce and Liberal Arts (SMCLA) affiliated with Swarrnim University, in association with Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).
The session was facilitated by Mr Suryakant Sharma, senior consultant with AMFI and a former deputy general manager (DGM), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Dr Sourbhi Chaturvedi, director, SMCLA and Dr Shashikant Bhagat, head, Department of Liberal Arts, School of Journalism and Mass Communication also remained present during the session.
With a fast growing financial and fintech industries, experts have underlined an urgent need for qualified professionals in the area of financial services and financial markets in various roles. Taking this into account, the subject of the seminar was decided, with a view to create more awareness among students on personal finance, financial and economic planning.
At least 200 participants from across India joined the seminar of which 45 joined in person whereas the remaining 163 joined online.
All faculty members of the Department of Liberal Arts and SMCLA and students virtually participated via video conference from the university seminar hall.
Mr Sharma explained in detail about the financial and securities market and the technical jargons and terminologies in a lucid way. He also focused on how a common citizen can be financially empowered through the financial securities market. Mr Sharma discussed at length about the basics of security market regulations, guidelines, and government policies. He also enlightened the students about a series of schemes and policies of securities markets and gave an overview about courses offered online as well as offline for new investors by agencies of repute such as SEBI and the RBI.
All in all, the session proved to be insightful for participants including students as well as faculty members. Dr Anil Borkar, Assistant Professor, SMCLA, concluded the program with a vote of appreciation.
