Traffic Restrictions in Ahmedabad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Matches at Narendra Modi Stadium

Ahmedabad, February 7, 2026:

The Ahmedabad city police have announced temporary traffic restrictions and diversions in view of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup India-2026 matches scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Motera.

As per the official order, the New Zealand vs South Africa match will be played on February  9, (South Africa v/s Canada clash ) February 11 (South Africa v/s Afghanistan clash ), February 14, followed by the India vs Netherlands clash on February 18, 2026. A large turnout of spectators, along with the movement of VVIPs, players, celebrities, and official vehicles, is expected during the matches.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and to prevent road accidents, the police have imposed restrictions on vehicular movement in and around the stadium area during specified hours on match days.

Restricted Route

Vehicular traffic of all kinds will be prohibited and diverted on the route from Janpath T-junction to Motera Stadium main gate via Krupa Residency T-junction up to Motera Gam T-junction during the enforcement period.

Alternative Routes Suggested

  • Vehicles may use the route from Tapovan Circle via ONGC Cross Roads, Visat T-junction, Janpath T-junction, Power House Cross Roads, and Prabodharaval Circle.
  • Another alternative route will be available from Krupa Residency T-junction via Sharan Status Cross Roads, Bhat-Koteswar Road, towards Apollo Circle.

The restrictions will not apply to:

  • Vehicles associated with the cricket matches
  • Government vehicles on official duty
  • Fire brigade and ambulance services
  • Vehicles involved in emergency situations
  • Residents living within the restricted area

The traffic restrictions will be implemented under Section 33 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, during the following time slots on match-related days:

  • Afternoon 3:00 PM to midnight
  • Midnight to 2:00 AM
  • Morning 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (on select dates)

Police have warned that violation of the traffic order will attract action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act.

Citizens have been urged to plan their travel in advance, follow traffic advisories, and cooperate with authorities to ensure a safe and smooth experience during the high-profile international matches.
