Trump Declares 100% Tariff On Pharma Imports From October 1, India May Be Affected.

On September 25, 2025, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced via his social media (Truth Social) that starting October 1, 2025, the U.S. will impose a 100% tariff on imports of branded or patented pharmaceutical products.

The tariff would not apply to those pharmaceutical companies that are already building (i.e. “breaking ground” or “under construction”) manufacturing facilities in the U.S.

Along with pharmaceuticals, Trump’s tariff plan includes other sectors affected are 50% tariff on kitchen cabinets & bathroom vanities. 30% tariff on upholstered furniture. 25% tariff on heavy trucks.

Big Firms like Dr Reddy’s, Aurobindo Pharma, Zydus Lifesciences, Sun Pharma and Gland Pharma reportedly earn anywhere from 30-50 per cent of their total revenues from the American market
