Unseasonal Rain likely on Year End in Gujarat

GANDHINAGAR / AHMEDABAD, Dec 30, 2025 — As Gujarat prepares to bid farewell to 2025, the weather outlook shows a mixed picture with isolated rain possibilities and significant winter weather influences ahead of 31st December. Here’s the latest compiled update from meteorological forecasts and regional news:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that light rain is likely at isolated places across parts of Kutch, Saurashtra and North Gujarat on 31st December and into the early hours of January 1. Districts such as Banaskantha, Patan, Jamnagar, Morbi and Dwarka are included in this forecast as northerly winds and moisture-bearing systems move in.

This spotty rain activity is expected to be light in intensity, and may bring some break in the dry weather that has prevailed across much of the state in late December.

Weather analysts have pointed to the influence of a Western Disturbance system moving southward, which is contributing to falling temperatures and increasing winter chill across Gujarat and neighbouring states. This change is expected to bring cooler nights and a more pronounced cold wave trend heading into the start of the new year.
