Weather agency IMD India Meteorological Department has sounded an orange alert for several districts in Gujarat, predicting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds of 40–50 km/h in cities including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and parts of Saurashtra and Kutch during May 26 to May 28. Due to low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea and an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Gujarat this forecast is made. On Sunday night, Ahmedabad and Vadodara felt sudden gusty winds and light rain, providing temporary relief from the heat. Wind speeds reached up to 50 km/h, causing dust storms and minor disruptions.
