Under the ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar Ghar Swadeshi’ campaign, the Women Art & Craft Festival was formally inaugurated today at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly premises by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary.

The event was graced by the Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Shri Purnesh Modi and the Hon’ble Minister of Women & Child Welfare Smt. Manishaben Vakil.

Addressing the gathering, Speaker Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary stated that the women of Gujarat have earned international recognition through their dedication and craftsmanship, particularly in traditional art forms such as embroidery. He emphasized that Gujarat’s traditional handicrafts have today emerged as a prestigious global brand. Organizing such an event within the Assembly premises, he said, serves as a beacon of hope and encouragement for the women of the state.

The Speaker congratulated Minister Smt. Manishaben Vakil for this commendable initiative and suggested that Members of the Legislative Assembly should actively promote these traditional crafts across every corner of the state.

Appealing to citizens, Shri Chaudhary remarked that these stalls are not merely centers of sale but symbols of women’s empowerment, hard work, and self-respect. Every product displayed reflects the artisans’ dedication and the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Even small support from citizens can provide renewed energy and encouragement to these women entrepreneurs.

It is noteworthy that this exhibition is organized by the Gujarat Women Economic Development Corporation Ltd. and will remain open from 23rd to 28th February 2026. Citizens can visit the stalls between 9:30 AM and 6:30 PM at the Assembly premises. A total of 10 exhibition-cum-sale stalls featuring handicrafts and indigenous products made by women artisans have been set up.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Assembly Secretary Shri Chetan Pandya, senior officials of the Women & Child Development Department, staff members, and a large number of citizens.
