BJP candidate Zankhana Patel wins the Choryasi assembly seat by-poll. In the end of 10th round of counting today morning, Zankhana Patel was leading with margin of about 30,000 votes over her rival Congress candidate. Voting for Choryasi by-poll was held on January 21 due to death of sitting BJP MLA Rajabhai Patel in August 2015.
BJP gave ticket to Rajabhai’s daughter Zankhana Patel while Congress gave ticket to a non-Gujarati candidate in view of large number of non-Gujaratis in this constituency. Choryasi seat is considered to be the safest seats for BJP irrespective of corporation or taluka or district panchayat, every elected body is with BJP with very good majority.
