Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a meeting in Washington, D.C. with Dan Bryant, Executive Vice President of Global Public Policy and Government Affairs at Walmart, during his ongoing US-Canada visit.
The discussions focused on strengthening Gujarat’s vast MSME ecosystem and expanding global opportunities for MSMEs and small artisans. The Chief Minister discussed plans to organize workshops jointly with Walmart and relevant state government departments to identify sector-specific opportunities and develop a clear roadmap for MSMEs at Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027.
During the meeting, Walmart’s executive vice president also shared views on sensitizing Gujarat’s large MSME base to international quality standards and improving product quality to enhance export opportunities.

Gujarat Positioned as India’s Growth Engine
During his visit to Washington, Chief Minister Patel also addressed an event organized by the Vishwa Umiya Foundation, where he highlighted Gujarat’s role as one of India’s key growth engines.
Interacting with the Gujarati diaspora, Patel discussed Gujarat’s overall development, financial discipline, investment opportunities and the state’s growth potential in emerging sectors such as GIFT City, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres and biotechnology.
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat has pursued a development model based on good governance, financial discipline and transparency.
