As on today, Gujarat is experiencing a rise in COVID-19 cases, with 119 new infections reported in the last 1 day, bringing the total number of active cases to 508. Among these, 18 patients are hospitalized, while 490 are in home isolation. Ahmedabad is the most affected district, with over 240 active cases—a fourfold increase from the previous week. The circulating variants in Gujarat, including JN.1, LF.7, LF.7.9, and XFG, are subvariants of Omicron and are associated with mild symptoms such as low-grade fever and cough. While the majority of cases are mild and managed at home without hospitalisation, health authorities advise continued vigilance, especially for high-risk groups such as the elderly people and those with underlying health conditions. Preventive measures like mask-wearing in crowded places, frequent handwashing, and seeking medical attention if symptoms persist are recommended by health authorities.
