Heavy Rainfall in Gujarat: Gujarat Monsoon has brought relief to farmers. Heavy rains lashed Saurashtra, central Gujarat on Sunday. A total of 209 talukas have received rain in the last 12 hours. While 240 talukas have received rain in 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 7.25 inches was recorded in Chhota Udepur and Lodhika. Kalawad has received 6 inches and Kaprada more than 5 inches. According to meteorological department, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast in North Gujarat, Central Gujarat and South Gujarat.
In terms of rainfall, Chhota Udepur and Lodhika received the highest rainfall of 7.25 inches and Kavant 6.5 inches in last 24 hours. While 45 talukas have received more than 2 inches of rainfall. More than 1 inch rainfall has been recorded in 94 talukas. Along with this, in all the talukas of Rajkot district like Gondal, Jetpur, Rajkot city and Morbi . Ahmedabad also received light rains throughout the day.
A total of 55 roads, including state highway, have been closed in Rajkot district due to rains. In Chhota Udepur, 19 roads of Panchayat, 3 of Panchayat in Tapi, 24 of Panchayat in Valsad and another 1, 2 of Panchayat in Dang, State Highway 1 and Panchayat 3 and another road in Rajkot and one Panchayat Road in Junagadh, a total of 55 roads have been closed. According to the energy department, power was disrupted in 41 villages owned by PGVCL.
The meteorological department has forecast for heavy to very heavy rainfall in North Gujarat, Central Gujarat and South Gujarat. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast in Aravalli, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara in Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur and Bharuch. Heavy rains are also forecast in Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Narmada, Navsari, Tapi, Surat, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli. Forecast also includes Amreli, Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar, Botad and Diwan in Saurashtra.
