48% of Gujarat govt offices in state stink on sanitation index in contrast to PM Modi’s vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions cleanliness in India and promotes Swatchta Abhiyaan in Big way very well supported by Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel insisting on lines of PM Modi.

As per sources in no less than 410 government premises which is 48% of the 847 failed to score a minimum of 3 on the new Sanitation Index (SI) set as criteria by Gujarat Mahatma Gandhi Swachhata Mission. Gujarat government’s expensive premises Swarnim Sankul I and II, where the chief minister herself and all ministers ocupy offices failed to achieve the highest sanitation index of 4.5 or better considered a ‘green zone public building’. Swarnim Sankul I and II could achieve index of 4.1 only. For Green Zone (Healthy and Clean Building/premises) one has to achieve index of 4.5 or better on sanitation index. The two buildings were built at the cost of Rs 250 crores.
