88-year-old Jagdish Farshan Bets Big on Transit Retail, Eyes Next Growth Phase Across Airports and Highway

Vadodara, 10th July, 2026: Jagdish Farshan, one of India’s oldest and most trusted names in traditional snacks and namkeen, is accelerating its retail expansion strategy by strengthening its presence across high-footfall transit destinations.  The company’s latest retail store launch at Kalol was marked by the presence of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. It is now preparing for its next phase of expansion along the Delhi–Mumbai Highway corridor, building on the recent launches of 2 retail store units at Ahmedabad and Surat Airports. Together, this expansion is expected to grow the company’s retail footprint and generate incremental revenue of approximately INR 5-6 Cr over the next year.

The recent QSR outlet launch at Kalol sits at 4000 sq. ft. with an investment of INR 2 Cr and seeks to address the changing consumer preferences have created more impulse-driven, on-the-go snacking occasions, prompting brands to rethink where and how they engage consumers. The company’s expansion comes at a time when airports, highways and other transit destinations are emerging as important retail channels for food and beverage brands.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Aakash Kandoi, Managing Director, Jagdish Farshan, said, “Transit retail is where the next phase of growth in this category will be won. Airports and highways bring us a consumer who is short on time but not short on trust, and that changes how we think about format, packaging, even where a product sits on the shelf. Kalol and our airport stores are proof points, not one-off wins. The Delhi–Mumbai corridor is a natural extension of that thinking — it is one of the busiest travel routes in the country, yet organised regional snack brands have barely scratched the surface there. We see real headroom for a brand built on decades of trust in Gujarat to earn that same trust with a much wider audience. This isn’t expansion for its own sake. Every location is chosen on footfall, dwell time and category fit, and we intend to build this network with the same discipline that took Jagdish Farshan from a single Vadodara outlet to a name recognised across the country.”

Catering to India’s growing road and air travel culture, the newly operational Airport retail stores give the brand access to a high-spending, travel-ready consumer base in one of Gujarat’s fastest-growing commercial centres. Together, these locations represent the first phase of a larger strategy aimed at taking the Vadodara-born brand beyond its traditional markets and closer to consumers wherever they travel.
