Today Under the chairmanship of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani core committee meeting has taken an important decision in the wider interest of students pursuing higher education in government and private university-colleges in the state.

The Chief Minister has decided with the health protection price to keep the young students of the state safe in the current transition of the global epidemic Corona, for all courses except undergraduate medical-paramedical in government and private university-colleges of the state. Elaborating on decision of the core committee, he said that state government has decided to give this merit-based promotion only this year in view of the impact of the transition of Covid-19 cases on education work in schools and colleges this year. He said that decision of Merit Based Promotion taken by state government would benefit students of all intermediate semester 2, 4 and where semester 6 is also intermediate for all courses except medical-paramedical of government and private universities and colleges.

He added that the total number of such students is going to be around 9.50 lakh will be given on the basis of the immediate-previous-semester of the year. Gujarat Education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama clarified that if the practical examination has not been conducted by the university-colleges, then 50% marks will be counted on the basis of internal assessment and the remaining 50% marks will be calculated on the basis of the immediate previous semester.

He also said that in case where practical test has been taken, actual marks obtained in the test will be taken into consideration. While most of these young students are yet to be vaccinated, Chief Minister Rupani has taken this important decision in the wider health interest of the entire student community.
