Gold prices in India crossed ₹1 lakh per 10 grams mark

As of June 13, 2025, in a historic moment for bullion market gold prices in India have crossed the ₹1 lakh per 10 grams mark, reaching a record high of ₹1,01,540 in New Delhi. This rise of ₹2,200 per 10 grams is attributed to escalating geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran, prompting investors to seek gold as a safe-haven asset which is a preferred global currency.Simultaneously, gold futures on the MCX Multi Commodity Exchange breached the ₹1 lakh limit, hitting ₹1,00,403 per 10 grams, driven by a weakening Indian rupee and rising international gold prices globally. In the retail market, gold prices in Delhi reached ₹99,170 per 10 grams, and after including the 3% GST Goods and Services Tax, consumers would pay approximately ₹1,02,145 per 10 grams .
