100 Medicos learn from son Prajesh Patel’s dead body donated by father Prakash Patel Torchbearer of Organ Donations

Anand, Sept 25 – In an extraordinary act of humanity and courage, the final rites of late Prajesh Prakashbhai Patel were performed today at G.J. Patel Institute of Ayurvedic Studies & Research, CVM University, New Vallabh Vidyanagar.

Prajesh, originally from Ode village of Anand district and later settled in Mumbai, was just 39 years old when he lost his life in Canada on April 21, 2024, after a brief illness. He was the beloved son of Prakashbhai Patel, trustee of Donate Life, an organization devoted to spreading awareness about organ donation.

Prakashabhai has exemplified a noble cause of humanity in persuading motivating donors in getting very impressive 1341 organ and tissue donations including 544 kidneys, 256 livers, 57 hearts, 52 lungs, 9 pancreas, 1 intestine, 5 hands and 434 corneas. Actually Prakashbhai became humble cause in giving hope of new life to many patients wanting and waiting for organs in queue for years togather.

While grief weighed heavily on the family, they chose a path of immense selflessness. Instead of holding a funeral immediately, his mortal remains were brought back to India and donated for medical education. Under the guidance of Nilesh Mandlevwala, founder-president of Donate Life, and with the support of Anand MP Miteshbhai Patel (Bakabhai), Manishbhai Patel (CVM), and Pradipbhai Patel (Komni Furniture), his body was gifted to the institute for students to learn anatomy.

This marks a historic milestone—the first time in India that the mortal remains of an Indian who passed away abroad were brought back to the country and dedicated for body donation.

According to Dr. Saritaben, Dean of the institute, more than 100 medical students have already gained invaluable knowledge from Prajesh’s body. His sacrifice continues to shape the healers of tomorrow, ensuring that countless lives will one day be saved by the doctors trained through this noble gift.

On September 24, 2025, his body was given a dignified farewell with Vedic rituals on the institute premises. The atmosphere was heavy with sorrow yet filled with respect, as teachers, students, and family members came together to honor a man whose last act was one of boundless generosity.

Amidst their personal loss, Sejal—his devoted wife, and his parents Prakashbhai and Artiben—showed exemplary courage with a big heart, turning their grief into an act of service to humanity. Their decision stands as a guiding light, reminding society that even in death, one can give the gift of life and knowledge.

Organ donation is often described as a divine act. From brain-dead patients whose organs bring life to those battling organ failure, to body donation that helps future doctors learn and heal, it is a legacy that lives on. Late Prajesh Patel’s sacrifice is not just a donation—it is an inspiration, a call for all of us to join this life-giving mission.

Prakashbhai is a well established Mumbai based enterpreneur/technocrat dealing in an advanced technology of Gold and Silver Plating works on India’s leading R&D Organisation ISRO for several years.
