Gujarat is already experiencing the onset of summer, and political heat is expected to rise along with soaring temperatures. Preparations for local self-government elections are reportedly underway.
Considering the intense heat in May, the state is likely to conduct elections for 15 Municipal Corporations, 31 District Panchayats, Taluka Panchayats, and Municipalities before the vacation period. The announcement of elections is expected after the conclusion of the Vidhan Sabha session on 25th March.
Major cities including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, along with 9 newly formed municipal corporations, are expected to go to polls simultaneously, according to sources.
