The population census in Gujarat has been officially postponed due to the ongoing election process, according to a recent circular issued by the General Administration Department.
The census exercise, which was originally scheduled to commence on April 26, will now be conducted after the completion of elections. Authorities stated that the decision was taken to ensure smooth conduct of both administrative and electoral processes without any overlap.
Officials have confirmed that fresh dates for the census will be announced in the coming days. The postponement is seen as a routine administrative measure, prioritizing election duties and resource allocation during the poll period.
The census is a crucial exercise that helps the government gather demographic data, which plays a key role in policy planning, resource distribution, and development initiatives across the state.
Further updates are expected once the election process concludes.
