The Ahmedabad Police has issued an official notification regarding traffic arrangements for upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 matches in the city.
According to Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, multiple IPL matches will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, between April 4 and May 12, 2026. Matches will feature teams including Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Due to the large number of spectators, VIP movement, and increased vehicle traffic expected during match days, special traffic restrictions and diversions have been implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent accidents.
Key Traffic Restrictions:
- Certain key routes near Motera Stadium will remain closed for general vehicle movement during match hours.
- The stretch from Janpath T-junction to Motera Stadium main gate via Krupa Residency will be restricted.
- Alternative routes have been designated via Tapovan Circle, ONGC Crossroads, Vistat T-junction, and Power House Crossroads.
- Vehicles can also be diverted via Krupa Residency to Sharan Status Crossroads, Bhatt Koteshwar Road, and Apollo Circle.
Exemptions:
The restrictions will not apply to:
- Vehicles related to IPL matches
- Emergency services like ambulances and fire brigade
- Government duty vehicles
- Local residents and emergency movement in the area
The advisory aims to manage heavy traffic inflow during match days and ensure public safety around the stadium.
Authorities have urged citizens to follow traffic guidelines and use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
