‘Tourist-Friendly Police Stations’ to be Established in Gir Somnath, Dwarka, and Dang

In a major step towards enhancing tourist safety and experience, the Gujarat Police has announced the establishment of advanced ‘Tourist-Friendly Police Stations’ in key tourist districts including Gir Somnath, Devbhumi Dwarka, and Dang.

The initiative aims not only to maintain law and order but also to provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for both domestic and international tourists, said Director General of Police Dr. K.L.N. Rao.

A high-level meeting chaired by Dr. Rao was held to discuss the implementation of recommendations from the DG & IG Conference. Under the guidance of Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, the project will be rolled out in phases, beginning with the three major tourism districts.

Existing police outposts at tourist locations will be upgraded into modern tourist police stations using available resources. To ensure easy identification and accessibility, specially designed uniforms and unique logos for police vehicles will also be introduced.

Additionally, container-based help desks and kiosks will be set up at major tourist spots to provide immediate assistance and information to visitors.

A centralized ‘Interactive Tourist Police Application’ will also be developed, enabling tourists to access all necessary information and security services on a single platform.

The meeting further emphasized ensuring adequate manpower, procurement of new vehicles, and development of necessary infrastructure at each tourist police station.

Dr. Rao stated that the initiative is focused on creating a “tourist-friendly” ecosystem that enhances safety while improving the overall travel experience in Gujarat.

Senior officials, including the IGP (Administration) and Superintendents of Police from Gir Somnath, Dwarka, and Dang, were present at the meeting.
